Did you know...

...that 1 talent = 6000 denarii and 1 denarius (singular for denarii) is a working man's one day wage. That means 1 talent is equal to about 16.5 years of working. And the man in Matthew 18 owed 10,000 talents! Which is equal to about 164,300 years of working, that is, if one can live THAT long. I think, in those days, if you are not able to repay your debt in your lifetime, your children and your children's children and so on will have to continue paying your debts for you. But 164,300 years is like... a bit too much right? What in the world did he do to earn such a debt? But alas, such is the measure of GRACE that the Lord has in forgiving one's mistakes and sins. I can imagine myself having 164,300 sins (after 29 years) being wiped out and forgiven, *snaps fingers* JUST LIKE THAT! Or 164,300 traffic samans that I have to pay, being PAID FOR IN FULL, *snaps fingers* JUST LIKE THAT! Thank You Jesus!

I remembered last time there was a question about WHY did Jesus curse the fig tree (Matthew 21), which withered and died eventually. Instead of pondering WHY, I realized that it was not about knowing WHY, but Jesus was simply trying to teach His disciples about having FAITH. Just read the next few verses and you'll know what I mean. Reading the whole of Matthew made me realize that Jesus was having a hard time teaching His disciples about having FAITH. There were so many miracles they saw with their own eyes, and yet, His disciples still DOUBTED. There are so many instances of His disciples lacking faith, e.g.

1. Peter sinking despite making a great start (Matthew 14),

2. The disciples not able to cast out the epileptic son (Matthew 17),

3. After seeing Jesus feeding the 5,000 with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish, they still did not catch it (the faith) when comes to the 4,000,

4. Jesus repeating the moving the mountain more than once to illustrate FAITH.

As simple as that, eh? And besides, isn't ASKING WHY a form of a doubt? Doubting Jesus' motives. Doubting if that was the right thing to do.

Isn't it true, that it is more easier to doubt than to have faith? To be negative than to be positive? To worry than to letting it go? To criticize than to praise? To give an excuse than to accept responsibility?
